One Conquest match would take around at least 60-70 minutes, sometimes even more. I’d bomb the entire enemy capital and send in an army to take it. My playstyle was very focused on late game, I always took my time with my economy, set up my defense and boxed myself in until my airports were ready. It gives bonuses to your air units and airport is not even available until way late into the “Whole World” campaign as you start in Classical Age. When I played this game outside of Steam, for some reason I always chose to play as America which is a late game and also late age nation. I can’t say whether its multiplayer is dead or alive because I never tried it. For example you have 15 to 20 minutes to successfully finish a tactics battle. There are different types of battles and they have different timers. In Conquest battles you have 90 minutes to defeat your enemy, if timer runs out you fail to capture the territory. There are so many nations to choose from that all have different bonuses which contribute to different playstyles and strategies. There are a total of 5 Campaign modes: Alexander The Great, Napoleon, The New Word, The Cold War and The Whole World. If you like this genre and haven’t played this yet I strongly urge you to try it out. I should mention that the playtime on thumbnail is not a good indicator of how long I played this game or how long it takes to 100% this game.

Well I decided once and for all that it was time to replay this game and do a full achievement run. I felt compelled to play it again, played one match, got an achievement accidentally which ended up hurting my completion percentage and then quit because new games kept getting added to the pile. This was a game I beat at least 4-5 times outside of Steam and after I had a job it was one of the first games I bought for my Steam account. It accompanied me during my childhood, teenage and then university years. Rise of Nations is an extremely special game for me.
